The Opportunity
An established East Midlands manufacturer supplying soft furnishings to the UK leisure industry is looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join its team in Long Eaton.
This varied, hands-on position will involve maintaining industrial sewing machines, production equipment and the wider factory premises. You will play an important role in minimising downtime and ensuring the manufacturing operation continues to run safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, service and fine-tune industrial sewing machines.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete effective repairs.
- Dismantle machinery and replace worn or faulty components.
- Install new machine parts, equipment and upgrades.
- Perform lubrication, inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain other industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Complete general electrical and site-maintenance duties.
- Test alarm systems and maintain water pumps.
- Assist with relocating plant, machinery and equipment.
- Support the maintenance of the factory and office premises.
- Liaise with external plumbers, electricians and specialist contractors when required.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and help minimise production downtime.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- At least two years’ mechanical experience.
- At least two years’ maintenance experience within a factory, production or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Experience maintaining machinery and production equipment.
- Previous experience with industrial sewing machines or textile machinery would be advantageous.
- Site or facilities-maintenance experience would be desirable.
- Electrical maintenance experience would be beneficial.
- A basic understanding of plumbing would be advantageous.
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work independently and prioritise maintenance requirements.
- A City & Guilds qualification in the 16th, 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
